CADIN Gap Filler Program

Current RCAF plans now call for a reduction in the number of gap filler sites with a decrease from 45 to 23. This includes 14 CADIN sites mentioned in the CAD study plus 9 additional all of which are required to support BOMARCs both RCAF and USAF.

While the final decision still rests with the current evaluation of the FPS74 which has not yet been concluded, it is probably worthwhile to review certain plans and concepts which were drawn up some time ago.

The current list of gap filler sites is as follows:

NOTE: handwritten in : Sparta

The situation is further complicated by the phase out proposal of certain LRR's C4 Edgar, C6 St Sylvestre, C7 Parent, C10 Ramore in the area serviced by the gap fillers listed in para 3. No dates have as yet been announced however phase out must be borne in mind with respect to the retie of the gap fillers, bases of operation for operation and maintenance, the utilization of assets which might become surplus due to this arrangement as well as manpower and commitments for training.

May this Directorate be appraised of actions taken to revise and update all facets of previously approved or proposed plans and concepts in support of the gap filler program.
