Deputy Minister,
Department of Transport,
Ottawa, Ontario

Dear Sir:Re: Field Survey-
Gap Filler Stations

Would you please refer to your letter of 8 January, 1960, file 1653-742, with which you forwarded an option obtained from Harry and Dorothy Reeves covering the purchase of a parcel of land, near the village of Buckhorn, which is being considered for use as a Gap Filler Station.

Our planning in respect of the majority of these stations is still in the preliminary stage and we have not yet obtained executive authority to proceed with either the acquisition of the property involved or the construction of the facility itself at Buckhorn site. I believe you will understand that in these circumstances we must ask you to withhold any further action.

Complete information on our firm land requirements at Buckhorn and other Gap Filler Stations will be passed you as soon as we have completed our studies and received the required authority. For the time being, however, it is not possible to concur in your recommendation that the option from Harry and Dorothy Reeves, which expires 28 February, 1960, be accepted.

Yours sincerely,

for Deputy Minister.
