Care and Custody
Gap Filler Radar Stations

  1. This HQ is concerned over the risk of injury to unauthorized persons climbing the radar towers at unfenced Gap Filler sites, and the Crown’s liability for such injuries.
  1. The following sites previously assigned to ADC for care and custody have radar towers but are unfenced.

Atikokan

Bridgetown

Site on private land

Chapleau

Site on Crown land

Formosa

Site on farm land

Lucknow

Westport

Site on private land

  1. The following additional sites have radar towers, are unfenced, and are herewith assigned to ADC for care and custody:

Bridgetown

B49-1-1001-1

Lucknow

L37-1-1001-1

Sparta

S111-1-1001-1

  1. It is requested that the stairs of the a/n towers (except at Atikokan) be barricaded, and that all sites be well posted with DND No Trespassing Signs. The tower at Westport is of particular concern as it is only 5 miles from the summer resort area and has already been climbed by a large number of people, including children.
  1. Costs incurred may be charged to Pri 14 and if any substantial outlay is involved for which funds cannot be made available from the ADC allotment, additional funds will be allotted.
