MEMORANDUM

GOVERNMENT OF CANADA

TO: General Manager, Real Estate - Ottawa.

Your File No: 26-10-7 RE

FROM: Regional Manager, Real Estate - Toronto

Our File No: Gap 4

SUBJECT: Proposed Gap Filler Station - Lucknow, Ontario.

DATE: May 18/61

With reference to your letter of April 12th last, which included a site to be acquired in the vicinity of Lucknow, Ontario, we wish to advise that we called on Mr Harvie Ritchie in an effort to obtain an option of the required parcel.

When our agent arrived at the Ritchie farm, Mr Clawson of MM Dillon & Company, was already there and had been discussing the location of the access road from the travelled road to the site itself. Apparently if the access road is constructed in a straight line from the travelled road to the site, it may leave a small area of cultivated land between this access road and a farm lane. Mr Ritchie was not agreeable to signing an option until such time as it is definitely determined whether this access road is to cross his property. However, he did sign an agreement giving permission to agents of the Crown to enter upon his property to take soil tests and conduct a contour survey. A copy of this signed agreement is enclosed herewith.

As soon as the exact location of this access road has been determined we will again call on Mr Ritchie in an effort to complete our negotiations.

AA Speer,
Regional Manager.
