Inspections, Care and Custody
Gap Filler Sites

Attached as Appendix "A" is a table providing a proposed assignment of responsibilities for care and custody of gap fillers to parent units. These responsibilities involve only inspection services, annual or bi-annual as we see fit, and arranging of repairs to damages of facilities, including acess roads, which are the result of weathering or vandalism. As you are aware should these gap fillers be completed the whole problem of assignment of day to day non-electronic maintenance would have to be reconsidered. The breakdown of responsibilities shown in the table would not be practical for this purpose.

All gap fillers have been listed although the above resonsibilities have been assigned to parent units for only the 17 gap fillers which were 50% or more completed before the program stopped. This has been done to provide a complete breakdown and enable the forwarding of property plans, site plans, etc received from AFHQ for gap fillers not 50% completed, to the unit which may ultimately provide inspections. Some such plans have already been received and sent out. Also access roads have been completed for some sites not 50% complete and maintenance of them must be assigned to some unit.

It would appear that Edgar, Falconbridge, and Sioux Lookout have a very heavy load, but it will be noted that only Falconbridge has as many as 3 sites sufficiently completed to require visits.

For your information.
