Following a verbal query from Eng 5-5 on 21 Jun 60 regarding an equipment layout for the FPS63 radar, ROZMA/CADIN was contacted by telephone. S/L Anderson stated that no equipment layout had been made to fit the FPS63 equipment into the proposed Armco building. Since the reference of 7 Mar 60 had stated that "the present building and tower design as agreed upon with GEEIA/CADIN will still be valid", it was assumed by ROZMA/CADIN that the FPS63 equipment layout would be similar to that for the FPS18.

The possibility that the Bendix proposal may make a change in the tower and building was anticipated, the CTel representative at the ESC meeting of 7-8 Jul 60 to study the Gap Filer question was supplied with a list of queries. (see App "A").

It is hoped that the CTel representative at the above meeting will return with sufficient information to anwer the questions posed in para 2 of the reference of 30 Jun 60.

APPENDIX "A"

GAP-FILLER MEETING - ESC 7-8 JUL 60

  1. Tower Specifications -

    Will Bendix proposal mean any changes to the FPS-18 tower? including forestry mod? It must not change tower!

  2. Will a rigid radome be used?

  3. Any change to FPS-18 power requirements?

  4. Can we assume that change in equpment will have no effect on siting criteria?

  5. We require installation design for floor layout, location of outlets, air conditioning or other cooling requirements, etc?

  6. We require operating characteristics for interference study purposes.

  7. Would "new" set be compatible in regard to bit rate and data characteristics for multiplexing, or would direct input to Q-7 be necessary? Would there be any "special" equipment required at GFR, LRR, DC?

  8. What are the implications of "single source" (Bendix)?

  9. How much "development" time would be necessary? What would be the production schedule? The "rehab" schedule? The retrofit schedule?

  10. What, if any, ECCM capability would be lost?

  11. Would there be any impact on comuter programming?
