Dear Sir:

Re: Field Survey, Soil Investigation &

Gap Filler Radar Stations - Maritimes.

Confirming telephone conversation between your Mr Crandall and our Mr WR Alexander on 15th May 1959, arrangements are being made for Mr Alexander to visit your office on 25th May 1959, and brief your staff on the requirements for the field survey, soil investigation and preliminary design work at the Gap Filler Radar Stations in the Maritimes. It is proposed to visit a typical site near Scotch Settlement, NB, on 26th May and you are requested to arrange for transportation to make this trip (approx 60 miles and return).

Your office will be suppled with a statement of services, specifications for field survey and soil investigations, specifications for survey monuments and drawings, instructions for preparation of specifications and for design of building and tower foundations and services, standard and typical drawings and details pertaining to each site.

Approximately a week after your reconnaissance trip to this site, you are requested to visit Ottawa and submit to Defence Construction (1951) Ltd, an estimate of your charges for each site (with copoy for AFHQ) and submit to Air Force Headquarters an interim report and estimate of the construction costs for this site.

Pending receipt of authority from the owners by AFHQ to perform the field survey and soil investigation, no work is to be carried out until you are advised by letter or telegram.

The date and time of Mr Alexander's arrival will be confirmed by telegram 24 hours in advance.

Yours very truly,

(JW Griffith) G/C
