Department of National Defence,
OTTAWA, Ont.

Attention: Mr WR Alexander, CEP-3

Dear Sir:

Re: Gap Filler Radar Keys

Reference is made to your recent letter requesting the whereabouts of some missing Keys at the various sites.

Our Halifax Branch reports as follows:

  1. Enclosed are the 2 Keys for the Security Fence at Summerville Centre. These are the only Keys there are since no buildings were erected.

  2. There are no Keys for Bridgetown since no buildings or fences were installed.

  3. The remaining Keys for St Joseph's will be forwarded shortly with an explanation of what happened to the missing Keys supplied by Armco.

Winnipeg reports:

It is noticed that there are question marks on the attached list of keys with regard to Manitouwadge and the Marathon site. As far as Manitouwadge is concerned, no keys were made as the work was terminated before hardware for these buildings was made. Marathon keys Nos C14B-1,2,3,4 were sent by our Mr J McIntyre to Mr WR Alexander in Air Force Headquarters on November 6, 1962. Mr Alexander acknowledged receipt of these keys in his letter of November 16, 1962.

We are looking for the original Keys from the Lac Ste Marie site but have not received an answer from the Contractor.

Would you please acknowledge receipt of the 2 enclosed Keys.

Yours very truly,

DEFENCE CONSTRUCTION (1951) LIMITED

TA Kelly,
for WR Cooke, P Eng,
RCAF Projects Engineer.
