Renegotiation of Contracts for Completion of Work
Gap Filler Radar Stations - Various
As it is understood that Treasury Board has approved the 63-64 Construction Programme, including carry-over, it is recommended that DCL be authorized to renegotiate the original contracts for the completion of work at the Gap Filler Radar Stations previously under contract.
This recommendation is submitted as the result of the difficulties which DCL has experienced in terminating the original contracts, the few contracts which is known to have been terminated and the high cancellation charges being asked in a number of cases.
It is believed that these renegotiations should be based on the actual work not starting before 1 Apr 63.
If this arrangement could be made, it would eliminate the necessity for preparing supplementary specifications for the outstanding work.
