Gap Filler Programme

As you may realize, there has been no construction in regard to the Gap Filler programme, although this programme has been under consideration for over two years. In view of the smallness of the construction element, this situation borders on the ridiculous.

We have had one delay after another:

  1. Obtaining technical requirements

  2. Re-siting over half the locations

  3. Re-considering accommodation in view of maintenance proposals; and

  4. Obtaining sign-off on standard drawings

Our consultant can proceed no further on working drawings and the spring is slipping away. Already we are two months behind in calling tenders and can expect another month's work before the first sites can be prepared for tender.

Before we lose the summer construction season, and in view of the CAS's desire to get on with CADIN construction, I am instructing my staff to get this work out to tender, based on the plans as they now stand, at the earliest possible date, regardless of sign-off.
