Re: Armco Steelox Buildings
Gap Filler Radar Stations Various

Dear Sirs:

Confirming telephone conversation between your Mr DS Gillies and our Mr WR Alexander, the two Armco Steelox buildings will be identical on all forty-five Gap Filler sites, and will be composed of components coming from either our No 5 Supply Depot at Moncton, NB or Armco Drainage & Metal Products Co at Guelph, Ont

Erection drawings were or will be supplied by Armco to all bidders on each job and will also be supplied by RCAF to all contractors when shipments are made from Moncton. As these are erection drawings, not shop drawings, and all jobs will be identical, it is requested that your normal requirement for the submission of eight sets of Armco drawings for approval be disregarded for these jobs and your Branch Offices advised accordingly.

Wit reference to the normal anchor bolt layout drawing, it is to be noted that the base angle will be used as a template for the placing of the anchor bolts and no drawing is therefore required. However, in case of Formosa, Tobermory and Nicolet, where the contractor is ready to pour concrete before the arrival of the base angles, information has been or will be provided for the setting out of the anchor bolts using a sheet of plywood as a template.

Yours truly,

(JW Griffith)
for Chief of the Air Staff
