Dear Sir:

Re: Proposed Gap Filler Sites - Beaver Tower -

Your file:S10-136-80/5 Vol 2 (CCE/Prop)

We wrote you on August 24th, 1961, enclosing a letter dated July 26th, 1961 received from the Deputy Minister, Department of Lands and Forests, Province of Quebec, which granted permission to carry out field surveys and soil investigations at the subject sites.

It was pointed out in paragraph 4 of Mr Guay's letter that, regarding the site located within the Mt Tremblant Park, the Department of Games and Fisheries was involved, and the transfer of the said site would be subject to their approval.

According, the substance of our request covering the subject requirements was then made known to the Province of Quebec, Department of Games and Fisheries. Their reply was directed to Mr Guay on September 20th, 1961, a photostatic copy (French) of which is attached for reference and for your action as required.

The Department of Games and Fisheries concur in the permission granted by the Department of Lands and Forests in that DND may proceed with the preliminary work for the setting up of the proposed Gap Filler Sites. May we particularly draw your attention to paragraph 2 of the Department of Games and Fisheries' letter, whereby they asked to be informed of the time actual construction work is planned in those sites which are to be located within the limits of the Mt Tremblant Park. This, as explained by the officials concerned, is due to the fact that special regulations will then have to be issued since no one is allowed to carry out any construction work within this park area without first obtaining formal permission from the Quebec Government.

Yours truly,

J R Baldwin,
Deputy Minister
