Dear Sirs:

Owing to the lack of topographical maps of Northern Ontario, it is necessary for us to acquire all local information available in order to assist us in the planning of air defence installations. We have been advised by Mr TE Mackey of the Forest Protection Division that the general location of all logging roads is shown on eight miles to the inch maps in your division.

It is realized that the information is not in a reproducible form but as it will be of considerable assistance to us, would you please advise if the maps could be photostated at either the same scale, a reduced scale or half sheets and what it would cost. We are interested in the area covered by the National Topographic Sheets 52 NW, NE, SW, SE and 42 NW, NE, SW, SE. If there are no logging roads on any of the above mentioned sheets, we will not require the photostat but only a statement to that effect.

Your co-operation in this matter is appreciated.

Yours truly,

(JW Griffith)
Group Captain,
for Chief of the Air Staff.
