SUBJECT: Construction - Gap Filler Radar Stations (uncl)

1 Reference your letter dated 8 July 1955, No S20-100-80/11 (DCEA)

2 At the present time preliminary surveys are underway to determine the land required for construction of the Gap Filler radar stations in the Newfoundland-Labrador area. Surveys on five (5) sites have been completed except for access roads. It is expected that all surveys will be completed by not later than 15 August 1955. As soon as this action is completed the property requirements will be made known to your Headquarters by the Northeast Air Command.

3 Similarly, our Air Force Installations Representative in Ottawa, will furnish to you duplicate copies of all plans and specifications for the construction work involved. The Corps of Engineers, East Ocean District, has been designated as our construction agency for this work. The AFIR-North Atlantic Region will coordinate the RCAF-USAF matters with the construction agency.
