Land Acquisition
Gap Filler Radar Station Tobermory, Ont

With reference to the a/n DOT letter and sketch plan date 2 Sep 59 and option from CO Spears and MG Spears of 1 Sep 59 and your Min 2 of 15 Sep 59, the land requirements cannot be determined until CCE/JDPG has received the field survey plans from our consultants (possibly by the end of October). Although in most cases the siting reports indicated a specific site for the building and tower, the consultants have been instructed to survey an area 400 feet square centered on the highest point plus 500 feet radials from the high point to determine tree clearances. The siting of the building and tower will be made after the survey is completed and will take into consideration all pertinent facts, such as preferred location, practical location, boundary lines, use of land and presence of buildings. CCE/Prop will be advised as soon as field survey is completed.

Please advise DOT that correspondence pertaining to only one site may be forwarded unclassified. It would be preferable if all correspondence from now on deal with individual sites, except for correspondence with the Provinces which naturally should deal with all sites within each province.
