Dear Sirs:

Over the past few months, you have requested estimates of the costs involved in supplying power to several Gap Filler Radar sites across the Province. We now have the five estimates requested up to the present time, but your letter of September 15 indicated that the Nobel Station may be relocated. We are, therefore, holding the estimate for this particular site pending further advice.

Ontario Hydro will install and own all transformers and metering, but the customer will be responsible for the cost of the transformer structure and any line required on private property. In some cases, as noted, the customer will also own a portion of the line required to bring power to the site. The estimated costs to the customer are as follows:

  1. Algonquin Park Site (HEPC Huntsville Area)

    Convert approximately 17 miles of single-phase primary to 3-phase and 8 miles of 2-phase to 3-phase$20,000
    Construct 1000' of 3-phase line from road to site1,400
    Cost of erecting transformer structure1,800
    Total$23,200

  2. Tobermory Site (HEPC Owen Sound Area), Lot 46, Concession 1, St Edmunds Twp.

    Construction 300' of 3-phase line from road to site$1,120
    Cost of erecting structure1,800

  3. Formosa (HEPC Listowel Area), Lot 29, Concession 13, Howick Twp

    Convert approximately 3.6 miles of 1-phase primary to 3-phase and build .75 miles of 3-phase line$18,040

    Total$20,750

  4. Asphodel Tsp - Lot 5, Concession 5 (HEPC Norwood Area)

    Conversion of 1.65 miles of 1-phase primary to 3-phase$3,600

    Total for the four installations - 456,270

If you wish us to proceed with this work, would you please advise so that appropriate contracts can be prepared. When the contracts are signed we will then require a purchase order for each separate installation.

We are willing to undertake the maintenance of the customer-owned portions of these installations, but on a cost basis only, as required. We presume that these arrangements will be made with the customer after the installations are complete.

We would also appreciate being advised of the dates by which service will be required as soon as possible.
