Fox Harbour, Labrador

2002 – Dedication of Plaque – Calvin Poole

On August 9, 2002 a plaque was unveiled at the abandoned Pinetree Gap Filler Site on Fox Harbour Hill, Labrador. A short ceremony took place in the plaque dedication with Calvin Poole officiating. The plaque itself was unveiled by Mr. Val Brown who worked on the construction of the site during the 1950's. The plaque is dedicated to the American servicemen, Canadian civilian personnel and residents of Fox Harbour (St. Lewis) who worked on the construction. The town of St. Lewis is planning to erect a viewing platform and scope on the site, just beyond the plaque. A spectacular view of the Labrador Coast and the Strait of Belle Isle is visible from this location.
