Exercise Whipsaw – Personnel Response

All personnel are to be congratulated on their excellent response to the long hours, unfamiliar tasks and extra duties with which they were confronted during exercise "Whipsaw".

Although the flying operations for the period were not as great as anticipated the operations room functioned with few difficulties as the result of keen participation of all concerned. The telecommunications equipment was at a high level of serviceability at the commencement of the exercise and maintained such a level with little time off for maintenance. Again a reflection of personnel effort.

Due to your eager participation in the Ground Defence Plan it was possible to evaluate our defence capability against infiltration and "commando" type attacks. Changes to the plan will of course be made to incorporate the lessons learned.

Although you spent 16 of every 24 on duty and some cases fatigue were apparent, there was relatively little discontent voiced. A questionnaire will be circulated in a few days on which you will be requested to enter your comments. Do so as seriously and accurately as possible, criticism is encouraged but try to make it constructive criticism.

Once again. Thanks for a job well done. We will definitely go through this type of exercise again.

Signed:
