Operations – Synthex Guest

Exercise Report

Exercise Synthex Guest took place as scheduled on 22 May.

Controller strength used was 14, including Duty Controller, FtrCOp strength was 43. Two scopes (PPIs 5 and 8) were allotted to surveillance of outbound strike missions and offensive sweeps – the associated controllers each taking care of two of the wings by doubling wing common frequencies. Two controllers operated at the 21 inch scope on Channel 7 for ascent control of outbound defence missions and recovery control of all missions. PPI 4 remained as the surveillance position and the remaining positions (PPIs 1, 2, 3, 6, and 9) were manned for air defence mission control.

No procedural difficulties are recorded as having been experienced. One MPS-14 (No. 3) was u/s for the exercise period and the T80 went u/s at 1430 hrs for the remainder of the period.
