Responsibilities of
RCAF Support Unit, Metz, France
To its Lodger Units

Information

CO, RCAF Support Unit, is responsible for the provision of administrative, accounting and technical services to the following:

(a)

1 Air Division HQ

(b)

61 AC&W Squadron

(c)

601 Telecom (R) Squadron Detachment

(d)

1 Air Division Postal Unit

(e)

Integrated Staffs (Those RCAF personnel who are attached to the Staffs at SHAPE, AIRCENT and 4th ATAF

With the exception of the Integrated Staffs, all of the foregoing units are at present located in the immediate vicinity of RCAF Support Unit and none are self-accounting units capable of providing their own housekeeping support. Accordingly, these units have been assigned to RCAF Support Unit, Metz, as lodger units.

Responsibilities

With respect to (a) (b) (c) and (d) above the Commanding Officer of RCAF Support Unit is responsible for the provision of the following services.

(a)

Pay and materiel accounting

(b)

Supply of materiel

(c)

ME

(d)

CE

(e)

Telecommunications maintenance

(f)

Accommodation and messing

(g)

Medical, Dental, Postal and Chaplaincy

(h)

Education

(j)

Recreation, hobby shops, etc

(k)

Ground Defence Training

(l)

Security

(m)

The customary station facilities – station stores, theatre, library, barber shops, etc

CO RCAF Support Unit is to ensure that 61 AC&W Squadron is provided with continuing maintenance support particularly in the following trades:

(a)

SupTech(W) – for sub stores

(b)

TgTech – for teletype maintenance

With respect to the Intelligence Staffs, CO, RCAF Support Unit is responsible for the provision of the following services:

(a)

Pay and materiel accounting

(b)

Supply of materiel (clothing, etc)

Terms of Reference

Although personnel of all lodger units are subject to Station Standing Orders published by RCAF Support Unit Metz, disciplinary control is to be exercised by their respective Cos. In the case of 1 Air Division HQ, the officer appointed Chief Staff Officer is to be the Commanding Officer as defined by QR (Air) art 1.02 (xxi) (b).

Personnel for station duty rosters will be provided on a pro-rata basis by each lodger unit and will be detailed in unit DROs and reprinted in RCAF Support Unit Metz DROs.
