Charlemagne Bar

The Charlamagne Bar served as a favorite "watering hole" for RCAF personnel in the 1950s and 1960s. This bar was located within the Hotel Regina which was at 4 Rue Charlemagne in Metz.

I decided to return to this "hot spot" in 1985 and, initially, I was unable to find the Charlamagne Bar. It wasn't until the next morning that, looking outside of my hotel window, I realized that I was directly across the street from where the "Charlamagne Bar" used to exist.

The pale squares on each side of the door are where the 4x8 size playing cards were located. The pale spot over the door was where the sign read "Bar Charlemagne"
