Jun 59

All officers gathered at the Mess for the annual end of the year party. All present left the squadron after a year's successful training for the summer holidays. Looking forward to meeting again possibley during Summer Camp or in September when training will resume.

5 Jun 59

A Mess Dinner was held by the Airmen's Mess to honour the CO who was leaving the Unit after more than six years in this office. A gift was presented to him by the PMC.

13 Jun 59

The actual change over of command was held at HMCS D'Iberville where W/C G Taschereau, DFC, CD, handed over the Unit to S/L R Cote DFC. This ceremony was attended by all officers and airmen of our squadron.

15 Jul 59

Members of the Summer Training RTTP course attended the funeral of one of their fellow students in Levis. Extra drill practices were held and the airmen's demonstration was greatly appreciated by the family and friends of the deceased.

26 Aug 59

The great day finally arrived for RTTP Students, as a graduation dinner was held for them and their young girl friends. The CO congratulated them on their good behaviour all summer and their excellent success at the Trade Examination. A dance at the Airmen's Mess followed the dinner.

26 Sep 59

The traditional golf tournament was held this year at Lorette with officers from RCAF Station Mont Apica, as well as from our Unit participating. The great champions were few but the good sports were numerous and all enjoyed themselves.

4 Oct 59

On a beautiful Sunday morning the officers and men of our Sqn as well as from 629 RCAC Sqn marched to Mont Thabor. At this memorials to the dead of both World Wars, Padre Mgr G Abel said mass while the R22R Band played appropriate music. Upon completion of the religious service, W/C EA Smith, took the salute. It is hoped that this successful Church Parade will become an annual event showing we remember those who so valiantly fought for peace and freedom.

8 Nov 59

As usual a dull and chilly day set the background for the annual Remembrance Day Parade. Units of the RCMP, Navy, Army and RCAF stood at attention in silence as a formation of CF100 from nearby RCAF Stn Bagotville roared over the Cross of Sacrifice. Following the wreath laying ceremony, the parade moved through the streets of Quebec where the Honourable Mark Drouin took the salute.

13 Nov 59

The Officers mess held on this day its first Mess Dinner of the season to honour the Ex CO W/C Taschereau and also another officer who was retiring, the officers also presented gifts to both padres of the unit.
