2453 Aircraft Control and Warning Unit (Reserve)
Three Rivers, PQ
INFORMATION
To provide a force of trained personnel who will be available to augment, in an emergency, the operation of the Regular Aircraft Control and Warning Units (ACWU's) on a 24 hours basis, the Plan for the RCAF Reserve calls for the formation of Reserve ACWU's Class "A" and Class "B".
It has been decided that a reserve ACWU Class "B" will be organized at Three Rivers, PQ.
INTENTION
To form 2453 Aircraft Control and Warning Unit (Res) Class "B" at Three Rivers, PQ.
EXECUTION
Effective Date
2453 ACWU (Res) is to form eff 1 Sep 51.
Role
To train reserve personnel in all aspects of aircraft control and warning operations.
To maintain and operate radar and communications facilites as directed by the Gp Cdr, 1 Gp RCAF Reserve Montreal.
Command
The officer appointed to command 2453 ACWU (Res) is to be the Commanding Officer as defined by KR (air) para 2 (xv).
Control
Functional and administrative control is to be exercised by the Gp Cdr, 1 Gp RCAF Reserve Montreal, through CO 12 Technical Training Group HQ Montreal until 1 Jan 52 at which time control will be through CO 11 Operational Training Wing HQ Montreal.
ADMINISTRATIVE ARRANGEMENTS
Establishment
Establishments 622R 2453 are to become effective 1 Sep 51.
Personnel
The transfer of personnel is to be arranged by AFHQ and by the AOC ADC.
Equipment & Supplies
The provision of equipment and supplies is to be arranged by the 1 Gp HQ (Reserve) Admin Unit.
Accounting
Expenditures are to be charged to Vote 600, except pay and allowances and travel and transportation of Reserve personnel which are to be charged to Vote 601.
Pay and equipment accounting is to be carried out by 1 Gp HQ RCAF Reserve Admin Unit.
Risk Allowance
For purposes of KR Air Vol III Art 205.30 and AFAO F5.30 this Unit is not designated a flying unit.
Accommodation and Messing
Working and domestic accommodation is to be arranged by the AOC ADC through the Gp Cdr 1 Gp RCAF Reserve Montreal.
