Jan 55

On DRO of the 5th of Jan 55, F/L RJH Lafreniere was authorized to go on special duty to Montreal at #1 Goup Headquarters from 3 Jan 55 to 7 Jan 55.

On DRO of the 24 Jan 55 were confirmed the promotions from F/O to F/L of the following:

F/L JC Lockeeff 1 Jan 55
F/L RJH Lafreniereeff 1 Jul 54
F/L JA Pichereff 1 Jul 54

As per DRO 24 Jan 55, AC2 R Bergeron and LAC JA Dupont were released eff 14 Jan 55 and 21 Dec 54 respectively.

As per the same DRO, AC2 G Hamelin was TOS eff 30 Sep 55.

On the 27 Jan 55 four members of the Mess Committee resigned their positions. They were:

The new committee was formed as follows:

S/L AO Dumas appointed F/L Labbe President of the Mess Committee and F/L P Picher as Vice President, P/O Briere was elected Secretary and F/O Filion Bar Officer. F/O JL Dapoust was also electd to the capacity of entertainment officer.

As per DRO 31 Jan 55, the following were proceeded on temporary duty to Montreal: F/O RSC Genest, P/O EC Jenssen and F/O JAF Babin.

The following officers were taken on strength as per DRO 31 Jan 55:

Jan 55

As per DRO dated January 24th, the following officers took inventory of the Station:

Inventory 70 (Furniture)

F/O F Babin, F/O Sullivan, and F/O RW Healy-Ogden.

Inventory 83 (Small Tools)

F/O JMR Briere, F/O Rocheleau and F/O Picher

Inventory 91 (Clothing)

F/O JM Pinder, F/O Laurendeau, and F/O JP Trudel.

As per DRO dated Jan 31st, the following personnel were taken on strength effective November 20th, 1954 with the rank of P/O with simultaneous promotion to the rank of F/O: JAJ Sullivan, JLH Morand, and JAA Rocheleau.

Also as per DRO dated January 31st, the following personnel were taken on strength on transfer from RTTP, Primary Reserve, effective December 31st, 1954.

AC2 LRL Giguere was also taken on strength as Fighter Control Operator, to be effective February 1st, 1955.

The following personnel were transferred to the Regular Force, effective December 21st, 1954 - LAC JA Dupont, AC2 R Bergeron. AW1 C Lemay was granted a leave without pay for an indefinite period of time, effective January 18th, 1955.

The personnel listed below were struck off strength, effective December 31st, 1954, after a period of service with Primary Reserve RTTP, being considered unsuitable for reasons other than misconduct, inefficiency or medical unfitness.

F/O JC Locke, A/F/L RJH Lafreneire and A/F/L JAP Picher were promoted to the rank of F/L effective January 1st, 1955. AC2 J Dumont successfully passed Trade Examination held December 19th, 1954 and has been remustered to Group 1 in his trade.


Feb 55

On Feb 5th, the Officers' Mess organized a skating and sliding party at the De Normandville skating rink. A large number of Officers and wives, Officers of Regiment des Trois-Rivieres and wives attended this sportive outing. After these extraordinary exercises, everybody retired to the Mess where our gracious ladies served a very nice cold lunch. This was followed by an evening of dance and merry-making.

On 12 Feb 55 an important group of the Unit visited #13 AC&W at Ste Marie for the purpose of local training.

The Officers' Mess of the Regiment of Trois-Rivieres invited the members of the Officers' Mess of our unit to attend there annual St Valentines' Party held on 19 Feb 55. An important group, including S/L and Mrs AO Dumas, accepted this gracious invitation.

It is noted in DRO of 21 Feb 55 that S/L AO dumas appointed a new fire Committee, which comprised the following personnel:

F/O WT Reid - President, assisted by F/O Knox, F/O R Hagan, F/O Morand and Cpl Hebert.

Feb 55

AC2 JL Theriault, AC2 JAR Beaudoin, LAC M Leduc were taken on strength as Fighter Controller Operator.

A clothing parade was held in the Airmen's Mess, February 23rd.

F/O Knox, F/O R Hagan, F/O Morand and Cpl Hebert were appointed on the fire Committee under the presidency of F/O WT Reid. A meeting of the new committee was held on February 21st, 1955.

F/O RC Genest, P/O FC Jenssen, F/O JAR Babin, LAW L Robichaud and LAW C Beaudoin proceeded to Montreal on Temporary Duty for one day on February 1st.


Mar 55

As per DRO 14 Mar 55, trade examinations were held for the staff personnel on the 20 Mar 55. The presiding officers was F/O JPR Bellemare assisted by F/O RSC Genest.

S/L AO Dumas was employed on special duty at 2454 AC&WS Unit from the 14 Mar 55 to the 31 Mar 55 as per DRO 14 Mar 55.

The following were also on special duty at the unit under authority of the same DRO for the time noted:

F/O JM Pinder from the 9 to the 12 Mar 55.
LAC Beaudoin from the 14 to the 31 Mar 55.

Two members of the Officers' Mess of this unit were transferred to the Supplementary Reserve as per DRO 14 Mar 55. They were:

F/L JC Locke and P/O AJ Bolduc whom had been transferred out of town in their civilian work.

Also released from the unit at the same date was AC2 M Caron RdrPC (G) "S".

On the weekend of the 10 Mar 55, S/L AO Dumas and F/O GW Evans proceeded for three days to #14 AC&W Squadron on Temporary Duty.

Qualifying and trade examinations presided by F/L R Lafreniere assisted by F/L P Picher were held on 27 Mar 55.

This month the station's girl basketball team took part in the interprovincial Basketball in a home and home series played against Verdun. Even though they have been beaten they showed a lot of skill and spirit since they played against the strongest ladies team in the Province.


Dec 55

Three Officers have completed and passed examinations on Phase 1 of local fighter controller course.

Twenty-six officers were classified UT/FtrC.

DROs showed six airmen remustered to FtrCOp 1 (O) effective August 1955.

F/L JAJ Picher was granted a leave of absence without pay for an indefinite period of time from December 19, 1955.

Two new airmen and one airwomen were enrolled.

Five airmen and two airwomen were re-engaged for a period of three years.

Amongst social activities two parties were held. One for the children of all members of the personnel in which presents were distributed to all. The other one was in the Officers' Mess on New Years Eve. Both were very successfully conducted.


Jan 56

A/Cpl S Johnstone and LAW SMA Staynes were granted a leave of absence for three months effective 30 January 1956.

Board of Inquiry, presided by F/O JAF Babin, investigated and reported by order of Squadron Leader GL Lavigne upon injuries suffered by Sergeant JWW McLellan on 26 November 1955.

Two new officers joined the unit and were shown on DROs:

F/O GR Beliveau and P/O E Bond.
