1 June 1955 to 30 November 1955

Jun 55

Prior to "stand-down" on Jun 2 the quarterly trade tests were held at this Unit. This culminated our instruction courses and study groups for the second quarter of the year 1955.

One week later the second RTTP course commenced with one hundred trainees of whom 30 were airwomen.

Jul 55

Summer Camp was the major activity for July. Fifty-two members of the Unit proceeded to Comox for the period 17 to 31 Jul.

Pay parade was held on 7 Jul.

Jun 55

On Aug 12 three Staff Officers from ADC visited this Unit. The Reserve Technical Training Plan, Trade Tests and pertinent training matters were discussed.

The RTTP course for this year was finalized on 26 Aug. Parents of the trainees were invited to the presentation parade.

W/C Paul represented A/C Orr and W/C Mooney represented G/C Alexander. W/C Paul presented the awards to outstanding Airwomen and Airmen.

Sep 55

This Unit commenced normal training on 8 Sep. The former routine of synthetic training was extended this month by bi-monthly visits to Comox for contact training.

On the same date F/O Jacob, Welfare Officer from Vancouver, made his regular monthly call.

F/O McAnnally attended an administrative conference in Vancouver on 11 Sep.

Oct 55

On 9 Oct F/L Higgins and F/O McAnally attended the CO's conference at 19 Wing in Vancouver.

We were favoured with an inspection visit on routine matters by W/C Mooney (STSO) from Wing HQ.

Our first sports parade for this Unit was held on 24 Oct at HMCS Naden. A large turnout was experienced and with the success of this sports parade it is planned that this be a regular event.

Three Staff Officers from ADC and AFHQ visited this Unit on 31 Oct. Questions of training, establishments and recruiting were discussed.

On the evening of 31 Oct members of this Unit paraded to a special showing of the show "Dam Busters" at the Atlas Theatre.

Nov 55

On Armistice Day a parade was held at this Unit, three flights marched from the Urban Centre to the Cenotaph as representatives of the RCAF in Victoria.

On Nov 17 the second sports parade was held at this Unit.

Five Staff Officers from 19 Wing visited the Unit on 28 Nov. Our OC Support until Nov 16 was F/O Watson (AS/FtrC). He was followed by F/O McLachlan of the same Branch.
