Operation Order 1/52
"OPERATION FIELD DAY"

INFORMATION

Operation Field Day will be held at the Sea Cadet Encampment Chestermere Lake on 21 and 22 June 52. This operation will provide power facilities for the Annual Amateur Radio Field Day commencing 1600 hours Saturday to 1600 hours Sunday on a continuous basis.

INTENTION

Transportation of the 7 1/2 KVA, Power Unit to Chestermere Lake will be undertaken by the Homer Vehicle which will also be used for homing exercises with 403 Squadron aircraft to commence on June 22/52.

VEHICLE AND PERSONNEL

Homer Vehicle with Power Unit in-tow - Sgt Veitch
Connection of Unit to Camp Service Entry - LAC Nagata
Operator - LAC Withell, Cpl Jones, AC1 Geisler, AW2 Melhuish, AW2 Bridgen
Co-ordining Officer - F/O Bewell

Homer Vehicle with Power Unit in-tow will be departing Station Calgary at 1400 hours Saturday June 21 under the command of Sgt Veitch, LAC Nagata, AC1 Geisler, and Cpl Jones, and will arrive at Chestermere Lake at approximately 1500 hours. The connection of Service Entry from the Power Unit must be made in sufficient time to permit commencement of the Field Day exercise at 1600 hours sharp.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation for the remaining personnel will be provided by PMC. Transportation of rations, fuel, and sleeping equipment will be provided by RCAF Station Calgary stake truck at 1400 hours Saturday June 21. This vehicle will not be required to remain at the operation area after discharging its load.

BAGGAGE

Personal baggage for 24 hours operation is being left to the discretion of the individual bearing in mind seasonal conditions.

RADIO CLUB LIAISON

Mr D Sutherland, president of the Calgary Radio Association and Mr K Ward, Activities Manager, will meet the convoy at the camp site and provide any assistance or information required.

RATIONS AND QUARTERS

Hutments complete with beds and cooking facilities are available at the camp site. Rations sufficient for 8 people for 3 meals will be provided by RCAF Station Calgary, and a quantity of 24 blankets will be provided for the night of June 21. Separate quarters and facilities will be alloted to women personnel in conjunction with other ladies participating in the Field Day Exercise.

PAY PARADE

Arrangements have been made to transport personnel back to the Station for Pay Parade on Sunday June 22.

COMMUNICATION

Contact will be maintained from the operation area to the Squadron Headquarters through radio VE6FO manned by LAC Park.

RETURN TO RCAF STATION CALGARY

The stake truck will return to the Operations area Sunday June 22 at 1600 hours to transport equipment and personnel together with the Homer Truck and Power Unit back to the Station and should arrive at RCAF Station Calgary at approximately 1800 hours.
