A/V/M LE Wray, AOC ADC carried out an inspection of this Squadron and was accompanied by Col Smith of the American Army Air Corps and S/L Baynton of ADC. The AOC reviewed the Guard of Honor and then made a tour of the buildings. Following this a Cocktail Party was given in the Officer's Mess.

The TSIHL opened 1 Dec 56 at Dalhousie Memorial Rink. Following the playing of the National Anthem by the band of HMCS Stadacona, Maj Gen EC Plow, CBF, DSO, CD, dropped the puck for the opening face-off by Rear-Admiral DFS Bidwell, CBF, CD and A/C Costello, CBE, CD. This officially opened the league.
