Staff meeting held re summer camp.

Final briefing re summer camp held at Uplands.

Squadron moved to summer camp. 53 members: 21 officers, 32 other ranks.

25 Jul 56

First annual Squadron sports day was held. LAW MM Lemay became the first winner of the Pat Guzzo sports trophy, to be presented to the Squadron member obtaining the highest aggregate annually.

4 Aug 56

Squadron retired from summer camp.

The PRO, F/O RA Spencer, arranged for a visit by representatives of the local press. The tour was very successful and excellent coverage was provided.

RTTP graduation parade. W/C Woolfenden, CO RCAF Stn Foymount was reviewing officer, W/C Smith represented G/C Miller, CO Stn Uplands and Mrs Breadner, widow of the late A/C/M Breadner presented the Breadner Trophy to AC2 Briggs for all-round airmanship. The proficiency award went to AC2 Davies.

Staff meeting held at Stn Uplands. Agenda included accommodation, duty analysis as well as the ops and training program for the year.

18 Sep 56

Training for the 1956/57 season began. A very high percentage of squadron strength was in attendance.

28 Sep 56

Operational weekends at Stn Foymount resumed.

4 Oct 56

Sqn members were guests of the Odeon theatre at the premier of "Reach for the Sky" featuring the life history of Douglas Bader.

9 Oct 56

The Canadian Forces decoration was presented to F/L WF Thomson and F/O AJ Burleton. The promotion of Sgt DJ Wells to the rank of FS was also announced.

24 Oct 56

A/M Slemon was guest of honour at the officers' mess dinner. Honourary members present were:

F/L D Blackburn of the Ottawa Recruiting Unit spoke to the airwomen and showed films depicting life in the regular force.

A dinner dance was held at the Officers' Mess of RCAF Stn Uplands. The event was very well attended.
