A pre-Christmas celebration was held after working hours in the Officers Mess. This all-ranks function was well attended and proved to be a most enjoyable occasion.
31 Dec 59
The PMC of the Officers Mess, F/L FP Kehoe, CD and Mrs Kehoe welcomed guests to the New Years Ball. In the receiving line were G/C AD Haylett, AFC, CD and Mrs Haylett, W/C DB Meltzer, CD and Mrs Meltzer and S/L WI Williams, CD and Mrs Williams.

The Annual Tri-Service Levee was attended by members of the three armed services. A delegation of officers of this unit represented the RCAF Auxiliary at "At Home" functions held at Wolseley Barracks, HMCS Prevost and the Armouries. In the afternoon officers of 2420 AC&W Squadron hosted officers of the other two services.
The Commanding Officer announced the promotion to F/L of the PAdO, F/O Shipley.
24 Jan 60
After duties were completed at 1600 hrs a cocktail party was held in the Officers Mess. The Commanding Officer, S/L WI Williams, CD and Mrs Williams received guests including G/C AD Haylett, AFC, CD and Mrs Haylett and S/L JK Geary, CD and Mrs Geary. G/C Haylett and S/L Geary are former commanding officers of this unit.

Recruiting was initiated for the Reserve Tradesman Training Plan. F/L MH Dawson was in charge of recruiting; F/L D Shea, Commanding Officer of the Regular Force Recruiting Unit co-operated by putting his facilities at our disposal. F/L AD Speare, Cd headed a committee in charge of selection of applicants.

The Annual Squadron Dining-in Night was held in the Officers Mess, RCAF Station Centralia. In the receiving line were G/C Kenyon, Commanding Officer of RCAF Station Centralia and Mrs Kenyon, G/C AD Haylett, AFC, Cd, and Mrs Haylett, S/L K Evans, PMC and Mrs Evans, S/L JK Geary, CD and Mrs Geary and S/L WI Williams, CD, Commanding Officer of this Unit, and Mrs Williams. Prior to the dinner, cocktails were served. Dancing terminated a highly successful evening.

A ceremonial parade was held to mark the birth of a new heir to the Throne. The Commanding Officer addressed the Parade, expressing the Unit's wishes for the health and happiness of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and her son.

General Foulkes, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staffs and the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Keillor MacKay and Mrs MacKay were guests of honour at the annual Paardeburg Ball held at Woleseley Barracks. Brig FA Clift, Western Ontario Area Commander and Mrs Clift welcomed guests to the ball. 2420 AC&W Squadron was represented at the Paardeburg Ball by S/L WI Williams, CD and Mrs Williams, F/L MH Dawson and Mrs Dawson, F/L CW Fox, DFC & Bar and Mrs Fox, F/L KA Hart, DFM and Mrs Hart, F/O M Clausen and Mrs Clausen, F/O RG Walmsley and Mrs Walmsley, F/O AA Munro and Mrs Munro, and F/L ML Shipley.

The Commanding Officer announced the promotion of the following airmen to the rank of Pilot Officer: Cpl CA Mills, Cpl TW Orchard, LAW ME White, LAC BW Cripps and LAC JP Johnston.

The Squadron Medical Officer, F/L JL Sales was released effective 31 Aug 59.

The Commanding Officer announced the promotion to Pilot Officer of LAC BA Ridgwell.

Week-end heavy site training was resumed.

The annual Spring Formal was held in the Officers Mess. The PMC, F/L CW Fox, DFC & Bar and Mrs Fox received guests. In attendance were G/C AD Haylett, AFC, CD and Mrs Haylett, S/L JK Geary, CD and Mrs Geary and S/L WI Williams, CD and Mrs Williams.
