INFORMATION

It has been decided to form a Reserve Radar & Communications Unit in Toronto, to provide an RCAF training centre for Reserve personnel with Radar and Radio aptitudes, thereby increasing the potential of the RCAF Reserve.

INTENTION

To form 2 Radar and Communication Unit (Reserve), Toronto.

EXECUTION

Effective Date

2 Radar and Communications Unit (Reserve) Toronto, is to form effective 1 Sep 51.

Function

The functions of this unit are to be as follows:

To train Reserve personnel in all duties connected with the operation of RCAF Radar and Communications systems as related to Air Defence Operations.

    Such other officer categories as may be determined later

  2. Airmen

    Radar Technician Ground
    Radar Technician Air
    Communications Technician Ground
    Communications Technician Air
    Communications Operators W/T
    Communications Operators R/T
    Communications Operators T/T
    Communications Operators D/F
    Fighter Control Operators

Command

The officer appointed to command 2 R&CU (Res) is to be the Commanding Officer as defined by KR (Air) para 2 (xv).

Control

Functional and administrative control of this unit is to be exercised by the Gp Cdr, RCAF Reserve Gp Toronto, through the CO, RCAF Reserve Technical Training Wing HQ, Toronto.

ADMINISTRATIVE ARRANGEMENTS

Establishment

Establishments R100 RCU and 4709 2RCU are to become effective 1 Sep 51.

Personnel

The transfer and/or posting of personnel is to be arranged by AFHQ and TCHQ.

Accommodation

Accommodation is to be arranged by the Gp Cdr RCAF Reserve Gp Toronto and provided by CO Station Toronto.

Accounting

Expenditures are to be charged to vote 600, except pay and allowances and travel and transportation of Reserve personnel, which are to be charged to vote 601.

Pay and equipment accounting are to be provided by the CO RCAF Station Toronto.

Risk Allowance

For purposes of KR (Vol III) Art 205 - 30 and AFAO F530 this unit is not designated a flying unit.

Equipment and Supplies

The CO RCAF Station Toronto is responsible for the provision of equipment and supplies in accordance with CAP 16 Vol 1.
