The following is a chronological summary of Unit activities at CFS Foymount for the period 1 Jan 70 to 31 Dec 70.

February 70

Foymount annual Winter Carnival was held during the week commencing 7 Feb.

April 70

FST-2 training terminated 1 Apr.

May 70

CFS Foymount received the "Pride" trophy which is awarded annually to the most efficient Supply Section with Air Defence Command

June 70

The Unit held "Open House" on 13 Jun in celebration of Armed Forces Day. Approximately 600 residents of the area visited the Unit. Activities for the day consisted of static displays of equipment, including land equipment from CFB Petawawa; displays from the Aeronautical Museum at Rockcliffe, and posters, etc., from the Directorate of Exhibitions and Displays, Ottawa. Also, included in the activities of the day, was a CF-100 flying display from 414 EWU Squadron, Uplands, and briefings and tours of the Operations facilities. Col. Richards, DCOS/C&E made a staff visit to CFS Foymount on 18 Jun.

July 70

CFS Foymount participated in the Summer Student Employment program. To this end, 8 students were hired.

August 70

The Level 5 autonomous system was devised, equipment installed and an Operations Plan written. 431 550 425 Major GW Tahirali, CD, assumed command of CFS Foymount from 612 231 696 Major EJ Gaines, CD, on 25 Aug. CFS Foymount achieved the commendable record of 6 years of accident-free driving.

September 70

Col. Baynton, DCOS/OPS made a staff visit to CFS Foymount on 18 Sep.

October 70

During Oct CFS Foymount increased its security, due to the Quebec crisis. The installation of the RFI Room for the FYQ47/GPA124 systems was commenced. MGEN Lipton, Commander, ADC made a staff visit to CFS Foymount on 14 Oct.

November 70

A Labour Management Consultation Committee was formed at CFS Foymount on 18 Nov. FYQ47/GPA124 training commenced in Nov and 64 personnel have been trained to date. CID 610 on-line crypto equipment became operational in Nov.

December 70

Regional Ops Centre was established at Downsview under ATC on 7 Dec. Procedures to obtain support are being promulgated. The following on-Station courses were given throughout the past year:
