  1. The following is a chronological summary of Unit activities at CFS Foymount for the period 1 Jan 71 to 31 Dec 71:

February

  • Foymount annual Winter Carnival was held during the week commencing 13 Feb - 20 Feb 71.
  • FYQ47/GPA124 Supervisor’s course was held and 19 students graduated.

March

Colonel JD Richards, DCOS C&E conducted the Annual Commander’s visit to CFS Foymount.

April

FYQ47/GPA124 Supervisor’s course was held an 13 students graduated.

May

GPA124 Trade Specialty course graduation was held at which 12 students graduated.

June

  • The celebration of Armed Forces Day was held in the Officer’s Mess with a cocktail party for the dignitaries of the local area.
  • Installation of the GPA124 commenced.
  • General Paschal (USAF), 22 NORAD Deputy Commander visited CFS Foymount.

July

  • GPA124 handover to CFS Foymount.
  • CFS Foymount participated in the Summer Student Employment program. To this end, two students were employed for the summer 1971.

August

  • Installation of FYQ47 commenced.
  • CFS Foymount achieved the commendable record of seven years accident-free driving.
  • Phase I of Foymount PMQ Improvement program was completed with the acceptance of 42 renovated bathrooms from DCL contractor. Cost - $32,000.00

September

  • Installation of FYQ47 completed.
  • Secure workshop area for FYQ47 completed.
  • GPA124 Trade Specialty course completed and 12 students graduated.

October

  • Visit of Colonel Bowes (CAF) from Colorado Springs.
  • Two FYQ47/GPA124 courses were held and a total of 38 students graduated.

November

A GPA124 Trade Specialty course was held and 13 students graduated.

December

  • Unit Ground Environment Orders were re-written and published as Communications and Electronics Orders (C&EOs)
  • FYQ47/GPA124 Supervisor’s course was held and 20 students graduated.
