    Section II

    COMMENTARY

Effective 26 August 1958, command of the 926th Squadron was transferred from Lt. Colonel Edward G Kar to Major Francis A Russell. Major Russell was assigned to this organization from the 777th AC&W Squadron, Klamath, California.

A major portion of this yearly O&M project work was completed during this reporting period. A number of originally planned projects were not completed due to lack of appropriate materials. Reconstruction of the south latrine area, which was damaged by fire in June 1958, was begun by a construction crew from Pepperrell AFB, Newfoundland. Latrine construction was 92% complete as of the end of this reporting period.

The squadron operation training program continued to be hampered by 15-J-1C outage. Equipment outage is due to lack of parts.

Reconstruction of the interior of the Airman’s Lounge area was started in August 1958. Completion of this project is hampered by lack of materials.

The yearly re-supply sea-lift, operation SUNEC, was not completed in September. Approximately 20 tons of subsistence and unit supply items were off-loaded from the MSTS ships Sagitta and Rock Springs. This years resupply operations was very insufficient, in that, approximately 25% of unit supply requirements were received. All subsistence requirements were received. It is anticipated that the remaining unit supply requirements will be air lifted to the squadron.

Along the morale line, letters have been sent to each state requesting photographs of the State Capitols. These photos are being framed and hung in the corridors and a reminder to write home and to remember to vote.
