Major W Wichita, 64th Air Division, Stewart AFB, NY, and Major J Jefferies, Goose Air Defence Sector, visited to discuss inclusion of Station Gander in the GADS Radar Maintenance Schedule. W/C FR Sarty, SOGT ADCHQ, visited to investigate OJT, TA and to discuss TE results.

Vice Admiral HS Rayner, CNS, A/V/M CF Johns, Assistant DM (CE and Properties), and party of ten were entertained at a luncheon in the Officer’s Mess prior to inspection of NRS Gander during annual tour of RCN supplementary radio stations.

The Honourable P Thornycroft, Minister of Defence, UK, A/M Sir Ronald Lees, DCAS RAF, A/V/M Evans, ADC RAF, A/C PC Fletcher, DOR(B) RAF, and party were entertained in the Officers Mess during a stop over while en route to Washington, DC.

A church parade commemorating the Battle of Britain was held with the Gander RCAC Squadron participating. Attending the church service and present at the saluting base were the Honourable Sir Leonard Outerbridge, who took the salute, the Honourable C Grainger, Member of Parliament, and Mayor J Robertson of Gander. Following the Battle of Britain ceremonies unit personnel attended the unveiling and dedication of the Gander War Memorial.
