19637 S/L EF Reid, CO RCAF Station Gander, proceeded on TD to Harmon AFB for purpose of liaison with 323 FIS, 4731 ADG, and 640th AC&W Squadron.

76037 F/O RE Goatcher, AS/FtrC, was promoted to substantive rank of Flight Lieutenant. 80149 F/O GR Lees, AS/GOb, was promoted to substantive rank of Flight Lieutenant.

138009 F/O ER Broughton, Tech/CE, was TOS RCAF Station Gander on transfer from RCAF Station Winnipeg, assuming the duties of SCEO.

19637 S/L EF Reid, CO RCAF Station Gander, proceeded on TD to 64th AD for purposes of liaison and interview with Brigadier General Terrell. 246365 F/O CL Gibson, Tech/CE, was SOS RCAF Station Gander on transfer to RCAF Station Centralia, relinquishing the duties of SCEO. 27944 S/L KW House, SORA(P) MAC, visited the unit on TD for staff consultations.

The Prime Minister, The Right Honorable John Diefenbaker, and Mrs. Diefenbaker, accompanied by the Minister of External Affairs, The Honorable Howard Green, and Mrs. Green stopped at Gander enroute to the UK. The Prime Minister made an informal visit to the new Recreation Centre at this unit.

The new Recreation Centre was officially opened by A/C JB Harvey, CStaffO ADCHQ, representing the AOC. Also present were Colonel V Milner, USAF, W/C DB Babineau, OC/COC ADCHQ and G/C DH Gwinn, SGESO ADCHQ. Other guests were W/C DJG Jackson, Senior RCAF Liaison officer at 64th ADH Pepperrell, and Chief Supt. AW Parsons of the RCMP.
