RCAF Station Armstrong
1 August 1962 to 30 November 1962

2 Aug 62

F/L RC Meyer, Tech/Tel, reported to 914th AC&W Squadron (USAF), Armstrong, Ontario, as OC of the RCAF Advance Party, which was posted to implement the Joint Comprehensive Plan for the Handover of the Station (a Group III Pinetree Line Radar Site) from the USAF to the RCAF.

2 Aug 62 to 30 Nov 62

During this period, additional RCAF personnel were posted in and USAF personnel were posted out. The RCAF progressively assumed responsibility for the various administrative and technical sections of the Station, in accordance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan.

31 Oct 62

On this day, W/C EJ Geddes, CO – designate of RCAF Station Armstrong (38th AC&W Squadron) participated in a handover ceremony, and accepted the Station for the RCAF from Major W Schultz, Commander of 914th AC&W Squadron, USAF.

1 Nov 62

D-Day: The RCAF assumed command of the Station. W/C EJ Geddes became Commanding Officer, and Major Schultz, the USAF Commander, assumed duties as Chief Operations Officer. Twenty USAF personnel (ten officers and ten airmen) remained on the Station after D-Day.

11 Nov 62

The RCAF participated, with the Canadian Legion, in Remembrance Day ceremonies in the town of Armstrong.

21 Nov 62

The "alert-status" which was in effect for four weeks was dropped, and personnel were permitted to leave the immediate area on leave and pass.

30 Nov 62
