1966 – A Holberg Legacy – Andy Andresen

A Holberg Legacy

In 1966 Mike and Bernice Clouthier had their fifth child, Shane, at the base hospital in Holberg. In 1968 Andy and Gerrie Andresen had their first child, Michele, at the same hospital. Since we lived across the street from each other, Clutch's oldest daughter, Julie, used to baby-sit Michele. During visits, young Shane would hold Michele's bottle for her and fetch it when she threw it. So far this is all routine, but let's move on a few years.

In 1993 Gerrie Andresen, now a realtor, was hosting a beer call at CFB Shilo Sgt's. mess with her family in attendance. During this function, she met a young artillery Sergeant who introduced himself as: "My name is Shane Clouthier, but you can call me Clutch." After he provided the correct parent's names, this poor young man was unceremoniously dragged across the entire mess by the hand to meet the Andresens. During the introductions, it seemed as if Sgt. Clouthier was paying particular attention to Michele.

Our suspicions that the youngsters liked each other have proved true as shown in this family picture of Justin, Michele, Shane and Dylan taken in June of 2000.
