The principal events of interest for the period were:

  4. The Right Honourable Mr. R Campney, Minister of National Defence, paid a formal visit to our Station on 27 Jul. A 50 man Guard of Honour was drawn up in his honour. The Guard was well turned out and the Minister appeared satisfied. During the afternoon a tea was held by Mrs. Walker in the Officers Mess and both the Minister and Mrs. Campney were introduced to the Officers and their wives.
  5. The Security Officer held a practice Alert on 10 Aug to implement the Station Security Plan. It was the first practice of its type ever at the unit and helped correct any possible weakness in the Security Plan.
  6. On 21 Nov, a 12 man Canadian Aviation Electronics crew arrived for the 8,000 hours Overhaul and Peaking check. This overhaul necessitated a shutdown of our Radar from 21 to 30 Nov inclusive.
  7. ADCHQ Operation Order 23/55 copy No. 10 covering the forthcoming exercise "Cracker Jack" arrived on the unit 16 Nov.
  8. The AOC ADCHQ and the Commander 5 Air Division HQ, paid the Station a visit on the 29 Nov. This was A/V/M Wray’s first visit to the Station since he assumed command of ADC. A 50 man Guard of Honour was reviewed by the AOC during his overnight stay.

Apart from the above points, no Administrative or Operational changes in policy or function occurred. Operationally the period was extremely light and no formal Operational exercises were conducted.
