Badminton Tournament – A badminton tournament was held with 12 persons competing.

5 Jun 58

Girl Guide’s Party – Brownies and Girl Guides finished their season with a session in the Pool followed by a party in the Theatre.

6 Jun 58

Visit – Lt. Col. MW Gouche of the USAF visited the unit.

7 Jun 58

Exercise Shake Up – Exercise Shake Up was conducted. This unit handled 2 pair of F-89, and one section of three F-102’s. Faker force consisted of two T-33’s. All fighters were committed on their targets.

Red Cross Blood Clinic – The Red Cross Blood Clinic was in the Recreation Hall for the day.

Broadcast Control Mission – Broadcast Control Mission was carried out. Punchbowl 15 acted as target, Punchbowl 1, 11, 19 and 21 were fighters. Results were 2 MA and 2 MI.

Sports – The season for intersection softball was opened with Telecomm defeating Crew 4.

Sports – The Station Soccer Team defeated the Station Lachine team at Lachine.

Operations – A Russian TU-104 was carried through the sub-sector on its way to Vancouver.

14 Jun 58

Air Force Day was observed at RCAF Station Lac St. Denis with activities arranged throughout the morning, afternoon and evening. The townsite portion of the station was open to the general public during the afternoon. Twenty-nine people visited the unit and forty-one dependents arrived on the station. Aircraft flew over the Operations tower in the St. Hubert Jet Trophy Competition. During the evening a very successful station dance was held in the Recreation Hall. Another successful dance was held in the Officers Mess.

Exercise Cue Ball – This unit controlled 3 sections of F-102’s with results as follows: 1 MA, 7 MI’s.

Exercise Shake Up – Results were 1 MA and 3 MI. VHF difficulties on position 10 and 11. Surveillance was good, handover was also good.

19 Jun 58

Exercise Burnt Cork – ECM condition 1 to 2 experienced. No trouble to read through and no strange effects were experienced. During the 24 hour period 41 intercepts were conducted.

Sports- Lac St. Denis girls ball team defeated St. Hubert ball team 11 – 1.

Broadcast Control Exercise – Punchbowl 21 acted as target while Punchbowls 13, 15, 11 and 9 acted as fighters. Results 1 MA, 3 MI.

Exercise Shake Up – Six F-102’s were under Crystal control. Difficulty was experienced in getting contact on targets due to scope clutter caused by heavy cloud build up in area.

Entertainment – Approximately 120 attended a beach party followed by a dance in the Airmen’s Club.

Visit – Mr. DR Wilson, Senior AFHQ Water and Sewage Design Engineer visited the unit.

1 Jul 58

Exercise – Faker penetration exercise. Largo scrambled 2 sections of fighters. Results were 2 MA, 1 MI. During the 24 hours period 9 intercepts were attempted.

Exercise Burnt Cork – No strange effects on look through. A broadcast control mission was carried out. During the 24 hour period, 3 intercepts were attempted.

Sports – A girls softball game was held at RCAF Station St. Johns. St. Johns defeated Lac St. Denis.

8 Jul 58

A Faker penetration exercise was conducted. Results were 2 MA and 1 MI. "Cross Talk IV" was conducted by 3 Sector. This unit participated by recovering 7 St. Hubert fighters.

11 Jul 58

A Faker penetration exercise was carried out. This unit controlled the fighters. During the 24 hour period 50 intercepts were carried out.

14 Jul 58

Entertainment – A Snack Bar was opened on the beach. This proved to be very popular and assisted in drawing personnel to the beach.

15 Jul 58

Horseshoe Tournament – A Horseshoe Tournament was held on the beach with 22 persons participating.

Operations – At 2235Z an increased Air Defence Readiness was called. Four aircraft were placed on 10 minutes and 20 aircraft on one hour. GObC reported a Cessna 120 forced down in BA5556 by an electrical storm. It was reported that the pilot was unharmed and aircraft not damaged.

Golf Tournament – A Golf Tournament was held at the Piedmont Golf Course with 17 persons participating. Presentation of prizes afterwards made this a successful event.

Entertainment – An Airman’s beach party and dance, preceded by a Tug-o-War and horseshoe tournament was held. Approximately 100 persons attended.

22 Jul 58

A Faker penetration exercise was originated by 1 ADCC. This unit had three fighters under control with results of 3 MI.

23 Jul 58

Exercise – A Faker mission penetrated this unit’s area. Three fighters were committed with results of 1 MA and 2 MI. An AI exercise was also carried out.

26 Jul 58

Exercise – Profile mission was carried out, 57 intercepts were attempted during the 24 hour period.

Visit – S/L Kay of ADCHQ arrived on a SOAF inspection.

30 Jul 58

Exercise Shake Up – Exercise Shake Up was conducted. This unit had control of two F-102’s, results were 2 MA. VHF very poor causing difficulty in control. Surveillance picture garbled. Intercept very nearly lost due to unknown aircraft flying alongside of target squawking 3 normal.

Operations – Instructions were received from Largo to go off increased readiness and resume normal operations.

Exercise Shake Up – Five aircraft, F-102’s from Rome AFB controlled by this unit. Results 3 MI, 2 MA. Surveillance picture good.

Exercise Dawn Dance – This was a broadcast control exercise. This unit had 7 fighters and the results were as follows: 2 MA, 5 MI. Surveillance picture was good.

9 Aug 58

Summer Carnival – A summer carnival was held at this unit. There was a children’s programme in the morning and an adults programme in the afternoon. A Dance and Barbecue were held in the evening at the beach.

12 Aug 58

Exercise Shake Up – Five aircraft F-102’s from Rome AFB controlled by this unit. Results 4 MA, 2 MI. Surveillance picture was from fair to good.

15 Aug 58

Sports – Lac St. Denis participated in a Softball tournament at RCAF Station St. Hubert. Lac St. Denis won one game and lost the second.

19 Aug 58

Operations – Profile mission 2 MI – Synthetic ECM triangulation. Shake up exercise two F-102 from RME and two F-102 from BTV. Results 7 MA, 5 MI.

20 Aug 58

Visit – F/L WH Neales of AFHQ, Mr. J Fergus, Mr. E O’Hearn, Mr. RJ Rowe, Mr. MR Nadon, Canadian Marconi personnel, visited the station.

21 Aug 58

Visit – W/C Gallagher of ADCHQ arrived for a one day visit.

22 Aug 58

Sports – A "Wire" field meet commenced. This took three days to enable shift workers to participate. There were entries in all events for the men, and all but one event for the women.

23 Aug 58

Sports – Crew 4 ball team represented the unit in the Zone Championships at RCAF Station Lachine. Lac St. Denis defeated Lachine and lost to St. Johns.

26 Aug 58

Sports – A soccer game was held at RCAF Station St. Johns. Lac St. Denis was defeated 4 – 0.

27 Aug 58

Sports – A softball game was held between St. Albans and Lac St. Denis. St. Albans defeated Lac St. Denis.

29 Aug 58

Golf Tournament – An invitational golf tournament was held at RCAF Station St. Hubert with 8 participants from Lac St. Denis.

2 Sep 58

Sports – A soccer game was held at Longue Point. Lac St. Denis lost 2 – 0.

4 Sep 58

Exercise – A security alert was carried out from 1700 hours to 0305 hours.

Sports – A flag football meeting was held to form an intersection league.

11 Sep 58

A meeting dealing with the installation of the FPS-20A was held. Mr. AR Khan, AFHQ; Mr. HC Nettleton, Northern Electric Company; F/L DA Swenson, AMC; and Mr. AF Wetherspoon, AMC attended.

Shake Up Exercises – Synthetic Shake Up exercises were called by 1 ADCC. Synthetic ECM triangulation exercises carried out, called by COC. Two profile missions carried out with Bagotville aircraft.

Sports – A bowling meeting was held. Three leagues were formed

Telecommunications – The installation of low noise receivers and one tube modulator in the CPS-6B, in accordance with EO35DA-15CPS6B/6B/1 and 6B/2 respectively, were carried out by Canadian General Electric technicians assisted by RCAF technicians.

Exercises – Synthetic broadcast control and synthetic ECM triangulation exercises were carried out. ECM demonstration and lectures were given to operations personnel by 104 K Flight.

Medical Services – Dr. MY LeClerc completed his services at the infirmary.

Exercise Top Hand – Exercise Top Hand commenced at 0432Z, Cocked Pistol declared, 25 intercepts.

Parade – A Battle of Britain Parade was held in the Recreation Hall.

Medical Services – Dr. BD Robertson commenced as RCAF Medical Officer.

Shake Up Exercise – A Shake Up exercise was conducted, results 5 MA’s, 37 intercepts.

Telecommunications – CGE Mobile repair party arrived for annual overhaul of UHF, VHF and antennas at TX1.

Exercise Webster – Exercise Webster was carried out with results as follows: 2 MA’s, 8 MI’s.

Exercise – A broadcast control exercise was carried out with a total of 21 intercepts.

Sports – A soccer game was held between Lac St. Denis and Longue Point. Lac St. Denis won 3 – 1.

Entertainment – Station personnel were entertained by the Blue Sky Review.

Recreation – A radio club meeting was held to form a "Ham" club on the unit.

Sports – A soccer game was played at Shawbridge Boys Camp between Lac St. Denis and Station St. Hubert. Lac St. Denis won 4 – 1.

Exercise Desk Top – Exercise Desk Top began at 0700Z Cocked Pistol at 0730Z.

Fire Prevention – A fire prevention lecture was given to dependents in the Station Theatre.

Sports – An invitational golf tournament was held with Station St. Hubert, 20 people participating. The tournament was followed by a presentation and lunch.

Exercise Chain Shot – Exercise Chain Shot was carried out and broadcast control exercise took place. Results: 3 MA’s, 1 MI.

Entertainment – A station bingo was held with approximately 200 attending. This was the first of the season and a success.

17 Oct 58

Sports – A soccer game was held between Lac St. Denis and Lachine. Lac St. Denis defeated Lachine to win a playoff spot.

18 Oct 58

Sports – The women’s volleyball team competed at Station St. Johns for the QRA Volleyball championship. Lac St. Denis came second in the tournament.

Medical Services – The Lachute Public Health Clinic gave 3rd Salk Vaccine to dependents.

24 Oct 58

Visit – Mr. LM Chesley, Assistant Deputy Minister, DND, and W/C DB Biggs of ADCHQ arrived for a one day visit.

Entertainment – The Variety Club met to make preparations for a station variety show.

Operations – ECM triangulations carried out with COC. Profile mission with BP aircraft – 1 MI. STP exercise number 1 was held.

Major General TO d’Arcy, USAF Member of Canada USA Joint Board of Defence, Lt. Col. DF Montgomery, USAF, and W/C DB Biggs of ADCHQ arrived for a general orientation tour.

Entertainment – A station Halloween dance was held in the Recreation Hall.

Telecommunications – The sixth annual overhaul of AN/CPS-6B was started by Canadian General Electric personnel under the supervision of Mr. D Martin.

Operations – STP problem number 4 took place. ECM exercise with FC aircraft – 4 MI’s and 8 intercepts.

Visit – Mr. Jim Edward of Radio Station CKVA Edmonton and S/L JD Harvey of ADCHQ arrived for a one day visit. The purpose of the visit to cover a typical Pinetree Site.

Operations – Exercise Chain Shot took place. The results, 3 MA’s. STP problem number 4 was held. Sign Post exercise 3 and 5 were held.

Parades – Remembrance Day parades were held in both Ste. Agathe and Morin Heights.

Visit – Mr. D Coxall and Mr. C Henderson of RCA visited the radar section to study the high voltage power supply of the AN/GPS-72 trainer.

Operations – STP problem #5 was carried out. Exercise "All Star" took place. Profile mission for F-102’s.

Visit – Delegates of ADC SMetO conference arrived for a briefing on the organization and function of 1 ADCC.
