8 Mar 67

A Disciplinary Court Martial was assembled at 36 Radar Squadron Lowther by order of A/V/M ME Pollard, DSO, DFC, AFC, CD, Commander ADC to try 232748 Cpl CF Paquette. The Court Martial was composed of the following:

2 May 67

A Unit Junior NCO Course commenced on this date and lasted until 12 May. Its purpose was to prepare 25 Corporals for the Corporals’ Qualifying Exams. The course covered instruction on AFAOs, CFAOS, QR&O, General Service Knowledge, and drill.

10 Aug 67

36 Radar Squadron Lowther was re-designated Canadian Forces Station Lowther as one of the changes in the integration of the Canadian Armed Forces.

15 Aug 67

A new Water Filtration Plant was started at CFS Lowther on this date. The plant is to consist of a coagulator, sand filter, and carbon filter. Its purpose is to improve the quality of the drinking water on the station. The plant is expected to be competed early in the new year.

17 Sep 67

Station Lowther personnel and the cadets of 647 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron took part in a Battle of Britain Commemoration Parade in Kapuskasing, Ont. The parade was followed by church services at St. Mark’s (Anglican) Church and St Patrick’s Church (Catholic) in Kapuskasing.

A new General Purpose building was started to be used as a Construction Engineering Workshop. The building was completed in Dec.

11 Nov 67

Station Lowther personnel took part in the Remembrance Day Parade held in Kapuskasing, Ont., along with the military and civic groups in Kapuskasing.

15 Nov 67

A unit course was started to train all personnel in Emergency Defence Guard Procedures. The course lasted until mid-Dec and 120 men were trained.

22 Nov 67

G/C RW McNair made a short visit to the station from Duluth, Minn. G/C McNair ate lunch in the Combined Mess with the officers and sergeants. He spoke to all station personnel about Lowther’s role and importance in the radar chain. He then presented Canada Centennial Medals to W/C CL Read, WO2 JJ Reilly, Sgt DP Kelly, Cpl A McCarthy, and Mr. Roy.

2 Dec 67

47708 Cpl. JWI Guay was killed in a car accident between CFS Lowther and Kapuskasing on his way to a mess function at "A" Company Mess Algonquin Regiment at the Kapuskasing Airport. The accident also involved the loss of an M&I float and some mess equipment.
