Unit participated in Operation Sioux Gold. SAC ECM. The score on this mission was 7 MA.

4 – 5 Dec 60

Mr. N Dube vacated the Snack Bar concession which was taken over by Mr. Cote.

9 Dec 60

Representative from Globe Furniture Co. of Waterloo Ontario completed installation of furniture in new Chapel.

15 Dec 60

Mr. Carmelo Cisco terminated his barber shop contract with Unit.

15 – 16 Dec 60

G/C Houle, Sector Commander, SL Hyatt D/Sec Comdr and Captain North visited this Unit on staff visit. Officers’ Mess re-opened after renovations completed.

17 Dec 60

Extremely high wind storm of from 80-85 mph caused considerable damage by flooding in Moisie. Waves from St. Lawrence washed out dykes and overflowed into Moisie Village. Several families were forced to vacate their homes.

22 Dec 60

The PMQ Council sponsored a Santa Claus parade through the PMQs when candy and gifts were distributed to all children.

25 Dec 60

Dinner served to 38 airmen in Combined Mess by Officers and Sr. NCOs. The Sr. NCOs were "at home" to the officers from 1100 to 1200 hours this date.

31 Dec 60

Very successful New Year’s Eve parties held in Cpls. Club, Rec. Hall, Sgts. Mess and Officers’ Mess.

1 Jan 61

Officers entertained Sr. NCOs between 1300 and 1400 hours. Between 1500 and 1800 a Levee was held in the Officers’ Mess attended by all officers and their wives and approximately 30 dignitaries from Seven Islands including the local MPP.

Unit participated in December Bride SAC ECM exercise.

11 Jan 61

A Group of 9 USAF officers gave a briefing to officer personnel of this Unit on the Century Series and F-89 Flight. Unit participated in Boneyard, ADC ECM exercise.

16 – 20 Jan 61

Mr. Comeau, Command CPO, visited Unit.

17 – 19 Jan 61

F/L Cowell, Command FPO carried out Staff visit at this Unit.

F/O Miron, Area Welfare Officer, visited Unit.

The CO opened a Curling Bonspiel at Seven Islands Curling Club.

W/C Paylor, CMU Calgary visited this Unit in connection with CMU project underway at Unit.

F/L Niemy, the first CAdO for this Unit arrived. There were a total of 25 tactical scrambles during Jan. 18 of these resulted in MAs. There were a total of 262 live intercepts and 284 synthetic. There were 23 synthetic GCI/GCA.

Unit participated in Boneyard – ADC ECM exercise.

Unit participated in December Bride – SAC ECM exercise.

Unit participated in December Bride – SAC ECM exercise. Major Hicks (USAF) and party arrived from AFHQ to accept new construction Ops Compound.

17 Feb 61

CBC – McGill Chorus troupe put on an excellent variety show in the Recreation Hall. This show was well attended and well received. The cast was entertained in the Officers’ Mess following the show.

18 Feb 61

Official opening of the renovated airmen’s club. The CO cut the ribbon at 2130 hours. Approximately 80 personnel attended this function.

20 Feb 61

Unit participated in Boneyard – ADC ECM operation. Live intercepts for month totalled 148 and synthetic intercepts totalled 150.

11 Mar 61

Unit Curling comprised of Sgt. Clark, F/S Ross, LAC Jennings and LAC Hamilton won the Zone Curling Championship at RCAF Station St. Hubert.

22 Mar 61

Unit participated in Boneyard ADC ECM exercise.

23 Mar 61

A/C Bradshaw visited Unit.

24 – 25 Mar 61

Unit Curling Rink comprised of Sgt. Clark, F/S Ross, LAC Jennings and LAC Hamilton were eliminated in 3rd round by Moose Jaw at Championship playdowns in Winnipeg.

30 Mar 61

Following promotions for personnel of this Unit announced: 1 to WO1, 1 to FS, 5 to Sgt., 8 to Cpl., 1 A/Sgt to Sgt., and 1 A/FS to FS. Live intercepts for March were 143 and synthetic totalled 98.

Unit advised S/L McAllister would be new CO.

W/C Christie and A/C Rutledge visited Unit.

S/L Brunger, F/L Clive, F/L Beisleigh from ADCHQ visited Unit.

Official opening of new Cpls. Club. Mess Dinner held followed by dancing and buffet in Cpls. Club.

Team from SO OrgM Branch ADCHQ consisting of F/L Burns, F/L Heslop, and F/L Titus visited Unit and briefed Branch and Section Heads on purpose of the Management Section in ADCHQ. During April Unit participated in Operation Sioux Indian and 2 Boneyard ADC ECM operations. Live intercepts for the period totalled 60, synthetic 120. New COIN indoctrination was commenced 27 April.

W/C Riddell SOCE ADCHQ visited Unit.

6 May 61

Unit participated in Operation "Big Lobster".

16 May 61

Dedication of Protestant Chapel held. G/C Light DRA(P) and W/C Rodger, Command Chap (P) officiated. Reception followed in school attended by approximately 50 personnel.

24 May 61

S/L MCCafferty, Command FSVO, Major Byers and Major Garneau RCASC visited and to discuss new procedure on obtaining rations for Unit.

25 May 61

A/V/M Orr, AMP and W/C Wicken SOPC visited Unit. Luncheon in Officers’ Mess with station officers. Live intercepts for month totalled 40, synthetic 134. The COIN system of forward telling is running smoothly and greatly facilitates the flow of tactical information to Sector.
