Air Officer Commanding, Air Vice Marshal 198 MD Lister from ADC, visits Baldy Hughes on general inspection. 19570 Group Captain JC Hovey from ADC visits Baldy Hughes on annual visit.

A ground and air search took place for 225059 Sgt. RJ Taylor, suspected missing just outside the station.

18 Jan 66

ZM6412 Lieutenant RN Davidson from ADC made a postal inspection.

3 – 21 Feb 66

Repainted the interior of the Officers Quarters plus the SAGE building and the water supply building.

3 – 24 Feb 66

Maintenance and repairs were carried out on CO2 Flood System in the FPS-27 Tower. On 3 Feb a test was conducted with results of CO2 discharging in both Transmitter Rooms in lieu of one required. The 10, 17 and 24 Feb were spent in removing selector valves for inspection and as yet the problems were not solved. The fire department personnel fully expect that the next maintenance "down time" in the FPS-27 on 3 Mar will solve the problem as only two possible causes remain.

ZM8712 Captain GE Purcell from RCAF Namao on unit on dental duty. 40822 Sgt. MT Butts promoted to Flight Sergeant. Previous Commanding Officer of Baldy Hughes, 27818 W/C RD Sloat, makes visit to Baldy Hughes when he flew to prince George to open the new Plaza Five building. After two days of competitions in the Winter Carnival, the team from Headquarters won the final game. Mrs. Barbara Bullen, the Headquarters candidate for Carnival Queen, was crowned 1966 Snow Queen at the dance that followed. 26237 W/C D Warren presented the crown and gifts to each of the candidates.

Canadian Marconi Company sent a repair party to change a bearing in the FPS-27 Tower. These were Messrs. DG Boulsbee, GS Gibson, AH Wilson, N Bazinet and DE While. In addition, three men from Penhold and Staff Sergeant Coyle from ADCHQ accompanied the group to gain experience.

Armed Forces Day – Observance of this day included a tour of the Operations Site. Areas open for viewing by tour groups were the FPS-27 tower, FST-2, DMCC, Radar Maintenance, Fire Truck and equipment, power plant and an electronic composed display in the Ground Training Lecture Room. One hundred and fifty to two hundred guests attended. Continuous films predominately of military theme were shown in the station theatre. The annual Walk-a-Thon was held in conjunction with these activities. In addition, the Commanding Officer gave short presentations on the Canadian Forces to some 14 local service clubs.
