Lament of the Forgotten Men
Author – Unknown US Airman

Out in the middle of no-where
Puntzi is the spot
Where we're bound to do our duty
In the land that God forgot

Out where a man gets lonely
Out where a man gets blue
Out in the middle of no-where
Ten Thousand miles from you

Living in memories only
Longing for our gals
Hoping that when we return
They haven't married our pals

No one knows we're living
Here we are filled with grief
Back home we are forgotten
And only remembered in brief

We're defenders of our country
We draw our hard earned pay
Here we protect the millionaires
For a lousy dollar a day

As the months drag by slowly
It's more than we can stand
Here we're not called convicts
But defenders of the land

We are so broken hearted
Just think of what we've missed
Buddy, try not to get drafted
And for God's sake don't enlist

But we shouldn’t feel so bad
As we go on our way
For when we get to heaven
We'll hear St. Peter say

"Come you men of Puntzi
you've done your job so well
now pass through the gates of heaven
you've served your time in hell"
