    COMMENTARY

    Administration and Personnel:

    Operations:

    Effective 0001, 1 January 1958, the beginning of the period covered by this report, the mission of this squadron was changed from an early warning surveillance station to a GCI station with limited control capabilities, with no scramble prerogative or ID function, in accordance with 3 Sector ADCC Message AC-423 (Attachment #1).

    On 24 January 1958, the 912th Squadron was given scramble prerogative from 3 ADCC per their Message AC 818 (Attachment #2).

    Communications and Electronics:

    During March 1958, an Air Movements Identification System (AMIS) line was installed. This AMIS line provides information to be passed and received by this station to: 639th Squadron, Lowther, Ontario; Toronto Air Traffic Control Center, Malton Airport, Ontario; 33rd AC&W Squadron, RCAF Station Falconbridge, Ontario, and 34th AC&W Squadron, RCAF Station Senneterre, Quebec. In addition, our administrative teletype net was extended to the 639th Squadron, Lowther, Ontario. All teletype equipment was overhauled during January 1958.

    Supply:

    During the month of February 1958, all supply stocks were inventoried with the result that approximately $500,000 worth of equipment and supplies were declared excess. This excess has been or will be returned to Canadian Air Force stocks at Depot Level.
