On 20 and 21 September this section was visited by the 37th Air Division Staff Assistance Team. Their overall evaluation was a highly satisfactory.

Base Exchange – Total sales for this quarter was $11,616.39.

Summary – This has been a busy and productive quarter as far as accomplishments in Supply and Services Branch. Supply has been completely re-warehoused and painted. The lower pole storage area has been reclaimed by supply and is being used as a storage site for lumber, plumbing supplies and work order materials. Food Service has been re-warehoused and the floors painted. This branch had a total of 8 gains and 6 losses in personnel.

    Civil Engineering Branch:

The Mobile Maintenance Team is on station doing various maintenance and repair projects throughout the station. The repair and resurfacing runway project is completed. A final acceptance inspection was held 27 Sep 67. The rock crushing project has been completed. The rock crusher and its support equipment have been prepared for shipment to Hopedale AS by ship. While at Saglek the following quantities were crushed: 5700 tons of material for the runway project and 8700 tons of crusher run material to be used for road repair. The Site Engineer designed and supervised construction of one thousand feet of new road. Its construction eliminated a dangerous curve that was a safety hazard due to high velocity winds and drifting snow. Two trackmasters were flipped last season because of these hazards. The interior painting of the BMEWS facility was completed 19 Jun 67. Construction of the composite personnel and auto heated storage facility at lower camp is far ahead of schedule. The project is 30% completed. Footings have been poured, walls erected and all steel erected. Temporary walls and roofs were constructed providing winter storage for contractors equipment and supplies. All contractor personnel have departed for winter. Occupancy date for AF should be about 15 Oct 68. High winds (in excess of 125 knots) on 16 Aug 67 tore the roof off NCO lower barracks. Repairs were completed in five days.
