Information

(1) This reissue incorporates all previous amendments.

Intention

(2) To restate the organization for 34 Radar Squadron (34 Radar Sqn.).

Execution

(3) This order shall be effective 1 May 64.

Role

(4) The role of this unit shall be to:

    1. collect, discriminate and transmit to a designated SAGE centre, radar data appearing within the area of coverage;
    2. provide control of RCAF re-deployment field, Val d’Or, as directed by the AOC ADC;
    3. When directed, to act as a NORAD Control Centre (NCC) by co-ordinating and supervising surveillance, identification and weapons control within the designated area of responsibility.

(5) Command and Control

(a) Designation of officer appointed to Command 34 Radar Sqn. – Commanding Officer.

(b) Control – AOC ADC except that operational control shall be exercised by the Commander Northern NORAD Region through the Commander Ottawa NORAD Sector. When unit training activities, which are controlled by the AOC ADC, require the facilities of the NORAD System, they shall be co-ordinated by the Sector Commander.

(a) This unit shall be a self accounting unit.

(b) For the purposes of QR (Air), art 205.35, this squadron shall not be a designated flying unit.

(c) Treasury Services shall be as shown in accounting circular 164.
