Airmen’s Promotion Board held with W/C Duncan, as President, and S/L Jaworski, COpsO, as member.

8 Dec 55

The St. Andrews Dramatic Society, from Bourlamaque, presented two plays on the Station. These were well received by personnel and an enjoyable evening was had by all.

27174 S/L J Jaworski, AFC, CD, COpsO, transferred to ADC Headquarters, St. Hubert, Quebec.

12 Dec 55

20077 S/L AJ Simpson, DFC, CD, assumes the function of COpsO. The remainder of the month was taken up by normal duties and with the Christmas season approaching, personnel were making plans for Christmas and New Years leave. The usual Christmas Festivities were carried out on the Station, including the Children’s party in the Rec. Hall; Officers and Sr. NCOs served dinner in the Airwomen'’ Mess on Christmas Day. after Officers visiting the Sgts. Mess; Officers and Sr. NCOs and WOs combined dance in Sgts. Mess New Year’s Eve; Officers entertained Sgts. Mess members New Year’s Day.

By permission of the Commanding Officer, W/C Duncan, the Senneterre Branch of the Canadian Legion was granted the use of the Rec. Hall for the afternoon and evening, when the Branch was host to the Val d’Or, Malartic and Amos Branches. Installation of officers was held in the afternoon and a Dance to which Station Personnel were invited was held in the evening.

Station Senneterre Jitney Bonspiel. Unfortunately because of a storm only five outside teams were able to compete. The main event was won by Malartic Gold Fields team and the Consolation Prize by a Station team skipped by F/O Rogers, CEO.

239520W F/O FL Legault, Med/Nurse, reported on TD for a month from Station Bagotville; F/O Legault replaced F/O Blair, Med/Nurse, who was on a month’s leave. Visitors during the month included – S/L B Dale, ADC HQ; F/L RE Crawford, ADC HQ; F/L Wright, CSIU Toronto; FS Linklater, SID North Bay; F/O TJ Tracy, ADC HQ.

RCAF Station Parent, 42 strong, led by S/L Shaw, A/CO arrived for a sports week-end. Saturday saw a hockey game in the afternoon (score Senneterre 8 – Parent 7). A Fashion Show (sponsored by WA) and dance was held in the evening. Sunday was games day with Station Parent winning the Volleyball and Station Senneterre coming out on top in Basketball, Curling, Badminton and Bowling. Station Senneterre retrieved the Underhill Trophy for Bowling with a lead of 441 pins. This trophy was presented to W/C Duncan at the conclusion of the meet by S/L Shaw. Monday, Parent personnel were taken on a shopping and sightseeing tour of Val d’Or.

S/L Robinson, AFHQ, arrived by helicopter to discuss with CO and CTSO installation of FPS-6 installation. During S/L Robinson’s visit, F/O Black and Bennetts, pilots of the helicopter (408 Squadron Rockcliffe) airlifted approximately 60 personnel on familiarization flights.

S/L VP Grant, F/L AE Riddle, F/L BT MacFie of 2402 Auxiliary Squadron and F/O JA John (Regular) visited the unit to discuss arrangements for the visit of 2402 Aux. Squadron in July for summer training exercises. Visitors to Unit included: W/C RF Holton, F/L RW Baxter, F/O JC Kitchen and F/O RJ Dooling, all of 438 Squadron.

The Lord Bishop of Moosonee, Right Reverend CC Robinson held a Confirmation Service for Anglican candidates amongst Station personnel at St. Andrews Church at Bourlamaque. Eleven Station personnel were confirmed. W/C Duncan participated in the service.

D/AOC A/C Reyno and party arrived for Staff visit. Unit Gold Club formed and plans made to obtain a Station membership in the Siscoe Island Golf Club near Val d’Or.

9 May 56

Ten Officers from Quebec Command arrived by ATC aircraft to plan for an MSF exercise which is to take place early in 1957. Mr. Lerue of the Bureau of Current Affairs and Professor Melandenovic of McGill University arrived on Station. Professor Melandenovic conducted a discussion on Russian Foreign Policy and other aspects of Russian life. Station personnel took part in this discussion period.

4606W F/O MO Priest Pers/Admin on arrival from Station Trenton assumes duties of Station Adjutant vice F/O EP Phillips transferred to Station Trenton effective 17 May 1956. New construction programme started. This programme includes construction of 10 PMQ’s, Admin building, all-weather swimming pool, back up tower, fire hall, addition to airmen’s barracks block, ME garage, supply storage etc, but no Chapel.

47946 F/L JFA Hebert Med/MO assumed duties of SMO on arrival from Station Cold Lake. Bowling Banquet held to conclude a very successful Bowling Season.
