Command Section:

Personnel – Captain Patrick M Bresnahan replaced Captain Charles J Garbarino as Supply Officer on 15 Feb 68. Lt. Richard A Morris promoted to Captain on 27 Mar 68. Outgoing personnel: S/Sgt. James Blake, S/Sgt. Thomas Melton, A/1C Jimmy McMillian, A/1C Richard Traub. Incoming personnel: Sgt. Douglas M Gaboya Jr., A/1C Stephen H Hutchison. Commander received COT assignment to the Netherlands.

Events – (a) Conference of deactivating unit commanders on 5 Mar 68 at Goose AB. (b) Commander’s Call was held on 6 Jan, 23 Feb, and 29 Mar 68. Informative topics, security briefings, awards presentation, and films were presented.

Communications/Electronics:

Major Accomplishments – (a) The 37^th Air Division Quarterly Maintenance Achievement Award was awarded to this Squadron for the period 1 Oct through 31 Dec 1967. (b) ADC PAD 68-4 received, and all suspense dates have been met. (c) There were no NORS items ordered, nor major equipment outages for the entire months of Feb and Mar. (d) Five outstanding TCTO’s have been completed during this reporting period. (e) Equipment operation was terminated at 2030 hours, 31 March 1968, per ADC PAD 68-4.

Problem Areas – No significant problems were encountered during this reporting period.

Civil Engineering:

Project/Contract Activities – All projects cancelled in accordance with PAD 68-4.

Mobile Maintenance Team Activities – All projects cancelled in accordance with PAD 68-4.

Power Plant – A complete overhaul of six engines and inspection of four engines was accomplished by CMC personnel.

Heating Plant – No problems were encountered.

Fire Prevention/Protection – All buildings were inspected, and manual and automatic alarms were tested. Fire extinguishers were inspected and found in good order. Meetings by Fire Marshals Council, Area Fire Marshals and Fire Wardens were conducted. Fire fighting teams training was conducted. Fire drills were conducted during this period.

Transportation:

Motor Pool – Vehicles were driven a total of 6,746 miles with a consumption of 1,020 gallons of gas for an average of 6.60 miles per gallon. Construction and material handling equipment operated 450 hours with a consumption of 825 gallons of fuel for an average of 1.1 hours per gallon.

Commercial Transportation – Air/Ground Transportation went smooth during this quarter with only minor aircraft delays due to weather conditions. Eastern Provincial Airways flew 26 round trips between Goose AB and St. Anthony AS. They transported the following loads:

Disaster Preparedness – DECUF Evaluation was conducted by Squadron Personnel, results were satisfactory.

Personnel Changes – Lost: A/1C Stephen A Hulsey, Mechanic. Gained: Martin Swyers, (civilian), Mechanic. Promoted: Lt. Richard A Morris to Captain.

Special – During the winter months snow clearing has been accomplished without any major difficulties. All preventative maintenance to buildings, electrical and plumbing has been accomplished. Any necessary repairs were made.

Operations:

The following is a summary of the Operations Sections activities for the 1^st quarter of the year 1968:

Major Accomplishments – None.

Exercises – Live 2. Simulated 5.

Reports – RCS 12. Other 22.

Programming Data – None.

Personnel – Authorized 21. Assigned 15.

Training – Proficiency Training: Eight individuals were upgraded to Operational Ready Status during this period. OJT: Two personnel are on OJT. None were upgraded.

Outgoing – M/Sgt. Harne, T/Sgt. Boggs, T/Sgt. Bambas, T/Sgt. Clad, A.1C Chauvin, Sgt. Leach, A/1C Smith.

Incoming – T/Sgt. Singletary, Sgt. Antal, Sgt. Blume, Sgt. Bernstein, Sgt. Stokley, Sgt. Schmitz, A/1C Hughes, A/1C Moyer.

TDY – Captain Garcia and S/Sgt. Arnold were assigned TDY for approximately thirty days to the organization.

Problems – None.

Intercepts – None.

This concludes the Operations Sections activities for the period 1 Jan 68 through 31 Mar 68.

Supply:

A portion of Unit Supply Office Floor was covered with linoleum to extend the smoking area and for better housekeeping procedures.

A plywood partition was constructed in Supply for the required Status Boards.

Captain Charles J Garbarino – Supply Officer, left the site for separation from the Air Force. S/Sgt. Franklin Lee assumed the responsibility of Supply until the arrival of Captain Patrick M Bresnahan.

Wall to wall inventory of Supply started on 1 Feb and completed that month.
