The period of 1 Jun 62 to 30 Nov 62 was one of preparation for the new role of this unit. Technically, the operational equipment required to function within SAGE was being assembled and tested.

Operational requirements were reduced, Welcome sub sector was abolished and the identification function was removed. A Manual Input System was introduced with Bangor replacing Lac St. Denis as Sector Headquarters, effective 15 Sep.

Personnel establishment reductions were initiated in most sections.

Housing on the unit was increased by completion of 25 Mobile Homes and very few personnel were required to find housing in the villages.

Clasp to the CD awarded to the Commanding Officer.

Opening of the newly redecorated Airmen’s Club.

15 Jun 62

Opening of the new Chalet in a remodeled unused building. All the labour involved was voluntary by personnel of the unit. 0001Z change to Manual Input System with Bangor as Sector Headquarters.

16 Sep 62

Battle of Britain Church Parade.

22 Sep 62

Certificate of Commendation awarded this unit. Presented to S/L Simpson at Night Fighters Reunion in Las Vegas.

26 Sep 62

Unit acted as host for QRA. Constitution reviewed and amended and yearly program proposed.

15 Oct 62

Occupation of Mobile Homes commenced. Personnel moved in from local villages.

16 Nov 62

Visit of A/C Hull and presentation of CD to following: Sgt. CR DeMille, Cpl.’s RD Brewer, SJ Chambers, JACM Lambert, JRM Lussier, JV Young, and LAC CE Burton.
