The interval covered by this report has been one of steady progress. The ultimate aim is to fill the new role required by SAGE on 1 Oct 63. This has involved many changes to equipment and manning at the operational level. The GATR Site Phase I and II Acceptances have been completed. The SAGE Annex has been on full time maintenance and sub system testing is continuing. The nucleus has been set up for manning the DMCC and personnel who will remain have been advised. Operationally, the role of the unit in the manual system has been steadily declining.

13 Dec 62

Welcome commenced control for the Daredevil Trials. The trial consisted of several missions to test an airborne jamming homer.

15 Dec 62

Organized visit by members of Quebec City United Services Institute. They were briefed and shown the operational function.

19 Dec 62

The traditional Airmen’s Xmas dinner was held, with the Senior NCOs and Officers providing the table service.

8 Jan 63

SAGE testing began and operations became secondary to this requirement.

21 Jan 63

Presentation of the CD by G/C Cameron to the following: F/L DR Brown and LAC JAG Lemieux.

14 to 16 Feb 63

A very successful winter Carnival was held. The QRA Ski tournament was included in the program. The inter-mess competition in various winter sports was won by the Officer’s Mess.

1 May 63

F/L Legare began to fill the position of COpsO due to the pending retirement of S/L Simpson.
